Little Big hot rod Car

SandMan over at Motorpasión liked the Fiat 600 we posted last week, and was reminded of another hot microcar, a 1960 Vespa prostreet rod. This one isn’t in Argentina, though–it’s owned by Ron Mule in Trenton, New Jersey.

Now, this is not an unknown car–there was a photo in the October 2006 Street Rodder, and it’s the cover car of the Goodguys Goodtimes August 2005 issue (although they’re off on the year…by four years). What’s new is that it’s for sale.

Ron offerered it online last month, and it didn’t even make his reserve at $80,000.

While he hasn’t taken it down the 1/4-mile (and with a 70-inch wheelbase, we don’t really blame him), it does run. Power is via 540 blown bowtie cubes, with a TH400 and 9-inch rearend. Ron says it’s streetable, and has about 600 miles on it. Just exactly what you want when you pull up next to the Metronator at a stoplight.

Is this what you have in mind for the CrosRod, Dan?
